  • Cath Kidston
    Elle Decoration

When you're a designer you have to compartmentalise yourself ever so slightly into creating things in a certain way. They say you should never restrict how you go about things too much, but I think you need to give your work focus and make sure it goes in a certain direction, and that should be much the same in terms of the magazine you choose to read as well. For me, Elle Decoration takes design as being serene, classy, complete, warm and feminine. It's a beautiful magazine that works so hard to offer new ideas to readers, and I really appreciate that in a title.

    Cath Kidston, Renowned designer

  • Ruth Langsford
    Prima

I love keeping up to date with what's going on and I find titles like Prima really great for lifestyle and decorating tips. I'm always on the go, so I want a title that I can read in bits. I'm afraid the days of absorbing some long drawn-out piece are over for me! Glossy, honest, genuine - Prima would be my first choice for the fact it's got enough in there to last me the week!

    Ruth Langsford, This Morning host

  • Jorgie Porter
    Cosmopolitan

I like Cosmopolitan and will pick it up whenever there's a new issue out. I'm only 24 and I realise most people reading the magazine are older than me, but I like the fashion elements and, well, it makes me feel grown up reading it! I'm like most people - fascinated by who's wearing what. I like to think I'm wearing things that make me look like I know about fashion - even though I don't really! Cosmo has a more sophisticated tone and some really stylish ideas, so that works well for me.

    Jorgie Porter, Hollyoaks Actress

  • Ricky Wilson.
    Esquire

I like to brush up on fashion. I'm known for my jackets and sometimes clothing that's a bit different, so I'll always look out for Esquire to see what's going to be hot around town. I'm not sure striped blazers are really designed for what I put them through when crowd-surfing, but that's rock 'n' roll. Esquire is a top read - not too snotty, yet big on style and nicely written in a way that makes you smile. Like an 'in gag'.

Ricky Wilson, Lead singer of Kaiser Chiefs

  • Judi Dench
    Good HouseKeeping

I love GH, because it has a nice feel and weigh about it and always looks good. I love the recipes - it's just a pity I'm the worst cook in the world!

    Judi Dench, Britain's best-loved actress

  • Jake Gyllenhaal
    Mens Health

I was a slave to the gym for so many months leading up to the filming of Southpaw. I basically lived and worked like a boxer – every single day. And to stay motivated I needed to read how the experts did it, so Men’s Health really kept me pumped and energetic, even at times when I felt I couldn’t go any further.

    Jake Gyllenhaal, Hollywood Actor

  • Louise Redknapp
    Red

Red has always been the go-to fashion, style and current affairs title for me. It's brave, uplifting and tackles some of the key things that matter to the modern woman. Really though, more than anything else, it's about being inspired by what's in front of you. The influences in Red come from the UK and overseas, but are presented in a way that make you want to go out and try new looks, sample new colours and fashions, and really explore fashion and style, no matter what the season.

    Louise Redknapp, Singer

  • Emma Forbes
    Good Housekeeping

I love Good Housekeeping. You can get so many good ideas from the magazine and adapt what it says to your own style. And they always interview really interesting people. That's the whole package for me and it's always great to sit down with a copy.

Emma Forbes, Radio and TV Presenter

  • Michelle Monaghan
    Elle

To name a favourite magazine is tough, but certainly high on the list would be Elle. It's a fantastic magazine that takes style from the catwalks and into people's lives. It doesn't judge, but it certainly has its finger on the pulse. The power of these fashion titles is huge – I know people who will think twice about wearing something if it's not referenced in that month's issue!

Michelle Monaghan, Radio and TV Presenter

  • Elizabeth Emanuel
    Harper's Bazaar

This is a magazine of style, class, integrity and luxury. What I admire about it is right from the very first page there is authority and panache, with an editorial team at the very heart of the fashion world. I think it's the sort of magazine that can intimidate some, but everyone should subscribe to magazines that inform and educate and Harper's Bazaar has a long history of passing on key fashion advice from the very heart of the various city bases.

    Elizabeth Emanuel, Designer

  • Russell Howard
    Runner's World

I've found running to be really good for brushing off the cobwebs of life. It's quite addictive, but you do still need a boost and flicking through the pages of something like Runner's World can often get me reaching for my trainers. It's packed full of good advice, inspiration PBs, health, clothing and information on upcoming races, and is a must for anyone serious about pounding the pavements.

    Russell Howard, Comedian

  • Jessica Ennis-Hill
    Women's Health

There are so many fitness magazines on the market today but I've always been coached to know that good health is a combination of fitness and diet, and Women's Health magazine combines the two really well. I think it's for the individual to know whether their priority or preference is on how much they eat or how hard they exercise, but this is a magazine that doesn't discriminate, and also branches out into the psychological side of how we feel about ourselves and the way we look. It's packed full of information with expert opinion and a number of really revealing case studies too.

    Jessica Ennis-Hill, Athlete
